New cycle of Frontiers 2026: Understanding life
We would like to invite you to Frontiers 2026: Understanding Life — Explanations, Models, and the Limits of Biological Knowledge, organised by the Academia Europaea Barcelona Hub.
The first session, “Frontiers I: Is Biology Data Rich and Theory Poor?”, will take place on the, 21 October 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30.
The discussion will explore a fundamental question in contemporary biology: despite the growing abundance of biological data, are we developing the theoretical frameworks and explanatory models needed to truly understand living systems?
The session will feature Núria López-Bigas, ICREA Research Professor at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), and Jeremy Gunawardena, Professor at Pompeu Fabra University (MELIS), with Marta Sales-Pardo, Serra Húnter Full Professor, as moderator.
The event will be held at the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona (RACAB), La Rambla 115, Barcelona, with the option to attend via Zoom.
Admission is free, but prior registration is required at: https://esdeveniments.fcri.cat/frontiers_1/
We hope you can join us!
